Hello.
Has anyone found the answer? Anyone been able to solve this problem, in addition to reboot?
Hi,
Why you want to replicate VDP appliance, instead of replicating VMs itself to offsite ?

Welcome to the Communtiy -
1) ESXi will not be able to do this - It works like the physical world you can hard code the IP address to the virtual NIC in the VM or configure your DHCP server to assign the IP address based on the VMs MAC address -
2) You will use your networks gateway addree 192.168.1.17 - the ESXi address is only used to manage the ESXi host
3) Since you are using the IP addresses in you subnet the subnet mask will have to be the same
4) You can hardcode the mac address of the virtual NIC -
Thanks abhilash... im aware about the free 2nd attempt... but the voucher isnt valid.. share if u hav any other. Thanks alot

Hi everyone,
I want to install VMware ESXi 5.1 Build 799733 (Not U1) on HP Proliant DL380p G8 server and during loading setup files the error "No network adapter were detected" is appear and does not complete the installation. I looked in HP and VMware website and found that I must install VMware ESXi 5.1 as a customized image for HP servers. I downloaded the Customized ESXi image (310 MB) for HP from VMware website and merge this bundle to original ESXi setup CD by ESXi-Customizer tool and create a new ESXi setup CD. I installed ESXi 5.1 via this new image on this server but above error was occurred again. How can I resolve this problem? will I facing with another errors on HP server after resolving this error?
Any recommendation will be appreciated..
Hi XamiX
1.How can I disable change IP (Prevent IP Stealing) in VMs via ESXi?
For example VM 3 can’t use 192.168.1.25
Is there any way for assigning IPs to VMs without adding them into guest NIC?
As far as you are providing the IP's statically you will not have to worry. If its a DHCP the you will have to make reservations. I think in your case there is no reservation. And NO, there is no other way to provide an IP. you will have to assign it to the guest NIC.
2.Gateway IP in guest OS should be ESXi IP address or main gateway IP address?
The gateway can be the same gateway that you have used for the ESXI. As far as all the machines can take to each other and ESXi you can use the same subnet.
Better thing to do is to open up the whole subnet, 192.168.1.0/24 if possible and you have no specific reason for subnetting. That way you can keep gateway as 192.168.1.1.
3.Subnet mask for guest OS should be 255.255.255.240 or I have to calculate new subnet?
Again the subnet mask would be the same as ESXi subnet. If you are creating a new one, make sure that subnet can talk to the ESXi subnet.
4.How can I prevent changing mac address in the guest OS via ESXi?
This will help you with that VMware KB: Changing the MAC address of a hosted virtual machine

Welcome to the VMware community,
It has to do something with the browser.
Clear the cache and try again it should work
Hi,
I am planning to install VMWare fusion on OSX. However, due to insufficient storage in physical disk. Can I check if I could install Windows 7 into my NAS raid 1 hard disk and open up VMware image from there?
Will there be any sort of performance issue?
You can use the customized HP image from https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/info/slug/datacenter_cloud_infrastructure/vmware_vsphere/5_1#custom_iso as is. There's nothing you need to customize and it should contain the drivers needed for the Gen8 models.

You say:
That valid location for any config/preferences/settings files can be found in the vmware.log file
but that's not true. As the log I posted above shows, only ERRORs show up in the log, not the actual place where it's pulling the config.ini/settings.ini. That is, if I put in the "right" place, I'd get no indication whatsoever in the log file as to where it's being read from.
I didn't have good stability until I upgraded all the way to 5.5 tbh. Setting up the vCenter appliance and getting web client working took a little time but I have a VM booting with 8GB RAM running accellerated apps in XenApp reliably now.
I was having loads of problems with the passthrough card not being used for the remote apps, instead being load balanced with the VMware display adapter. Through some iterative troubleshooting (AKA trial and error), I found that if I booted the VM with the VMware display adapter enabled, and then disabled it after Windows starts up, then everything runs over the passthrough card. And if I enabled the VMware adapter prior to rebooting the VM, it rebooted without going to the 'safe mode' adapter. So I set out to automate this.
When I tried removing vmware tools altogether and deleting that vmware display adapter, I ended up with a 'Standard VGA adapter' getting added and my FirePro display was not recognized at all.
My current workaround is to use the microsoft utility DevCon and scripting - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/311272
I ended up not using the download from that site... had to find a true 64-bit version, not the itanium version they provide.
I have used devcon to identify the device id, and it can then be used to disable or enable the device. In this case, the vmware display adapter. So I've ended up with two scripts, a shutdown script that enables the vmware adapter prior to restarting the server, and a startup script (stored in ProgramData startup path) that disables the vmware adapter after windows boots. In testing, this seems to be working reliably with the remote apps using the FirePro card 100%
Could you attach the package.ini?
entering your question into google comes up with a detailed howto:

Hi All
Am I right in thinking that the essentials license is a 6 Socket license with a VC license also?
Can I use it on a 4 socket Server and a 2 Socket server to make up the 6??
Thanks
да туда уже смотрел (((

Downgrade to 5.0. Worked for me

As per this paper, essential plus support 6 cpu licensing and you can use 4cpu and 2 cpu server.
