For the last several releases of OS X the SLA actually requires it be run on Apple-branded hardware and while run under OS X itself and the only VMware product that can run on OS X and create and run an OS X Virtual Machine legally pre the SLA is VMware Fusion!

I have applied a patch using update manager so its working fine...
I am stuck in my 5.5. vcenter update as its stuck on the passwd for the db... says wrong passwd 
Tried some links to reset the passwd .. no luck
Now planning to remove the vencenter all together & install fresh 5.5 ...

Migrating Workstation WM from old PC
I recently re-installed my os to a new hard drive. I had several VMs running on the old (win7) os. I copied the VM folder to a NAS and have tried opening them on my new os (win 8.1) and they run fine, but I am unable to load snapshots. I reverted one VM to a snapshot and now every time I run it I get: could not get snapshot information: error. Module snapshot power on failed. Failed to start the virtual machine. I am wondering if the issue is related to me running the VM from a NAS or did I not copy all of the files correctly. I still have the old harddrive and can boot up into its os if necessary. I did select copy it when asked by VMware to copy or move. I am running the latest VMware 9 workstation but I was running 9.1 on win7. Any help would be great. I am scared to try to open the other VMs!

Re: hgfs driver for VMware tools version 9.6.1-1378637 (Fusion 6.0.2) for linux is broken
I also experience this corruption/truncation of files over hgfs on 6.0.2. You can mitigate the issue by re-mounting the hgfs partition (`sudo mount /mnt/hgfs`) which should resolve the truncation issue, so you shouldn't need a full reboot.

OMG, why did they removed it? There is nothing new to Win7 what Win XP can't handle @VMware Sphere Client ...
I just realized, because the only 5.5 ESXi I've installed from Win7, and now I have to realize it can not be handled by Sphere Client from XP.
Good job @VMware, now I have to search for another VM solution, but it's no loss for you, I never paid any money on VMware.
Even Win98SE would be enough to handle ESXi 5.5, I'm sure as hell!
You can do it commandline, so even DOS 5.0 would be enough ...

Monitoring ESXi via SNMP
I have SNMP enabled on my ESXi server, however vmwMemSize and vmwMemAvail seem to always report the same value, even when there are VMs on the host using memory. Is there some way to report via SNMP the amount of memory currently being used on the host?
Sample output from snmpwalk:
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.6876.3.2.1.0 = Gauge32: 33541140
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.6876.3.2.2.0 = Gauge32: 0

But here i can able to deploy the problematic template to othere host on cluster and it got successful
only one host have issue on template depolyment .

Upgrading Fusion 3.0 in 10.7.5 (Lion) and suspended virtual machine
I was trying to help friends get their virtual Windows XP Pro back up and running after it "hasn't been working for a while".
First, they are not able to afford upgrades of ANY kind at this point in time. As a result, they are stuck with Lion (10.7.5) and Fusion 3.
Their Fusion is 3.0.0. And they are having the issues presented in the knowledge base article:
I assume that at some point "a while ago" they updated Lion to 10.7.5 and virtual Windows stopped working.
Clicking on "Check for Updates" within Fusion only takes them to the offer to upgrade to Fusion 6 and does not allow them to patch 3.0.0. I have downloaded 3.1.4 (latest version) for them but am hesitant to uninstall 3.0.0/install 3.1.4 or to just install 3.1.4 over the top of 3.0.0 because the Windows XP Pro virtual machine in in the SUSPENDED state. Because of this bug, I cannot start the virtual machine to properly shut it down!!!
So my question is, can I install 3.1.4 with the virtual machine in suspended state? Or is it 100% guarantee of corrupting and losing the virtual machine?

i did try to create a folder but cannot drag and drop it might be due to different version of Vms or some didn't have VM tools installed. i saw other have the same posting --cannot drag and drop VM into a folder.
But I found out I can use resource pool to place all offline VMs together. I am not sure is whether I can use resource pool to map one datastore named offline VM datastore.

Windows 8.1 Tips Pop Up Windows
I have just upgraded to Windows 8.1 and so far, so good EXCEPT for one thing.
Windows provides "helpful tips" in pop up boxes which seemingly don't want to go away. See attached screen shot.
There are several suggested cures for this in the Google University but none seem to work for me.
Any ideas?

communicate guests on different hosts with out using bridged network
Hi All,
How to establish a communication between 2 vm's which are on different host machines with out using bridged network..
Explanation
VM1 ->> The machine which is running on Windows Server 2008 R2 with a ADDS and DNS which is on some test domain (let me say javis.local)
VM2->> another 2008 R2 server with IIS and some other applications (javis.local)
VM3 ->> a windows xp machine.
VM1 and VM2 are the Host1
VM3 is on host2
VM1 and VM2 are 10.10.10.x network
Host1 and host 2 are on the 192.168.10.x network.. which is on some other domain (let me say conteso.net)
Now, my requirement is - I want to make a communication between VM1 and VM3, which intern can access VM2
I do not want do a bridged network, for the very reason, all these should not be on the same network
any inputs will be greatly appreciated..

Thanks. Yes, I do realize it is a user forum. I prefer sharing tech advice with other real users. I find that the professional tech support may or not be excellent, but sometimes they have to tow the "party line." Other users will cut through the bull and give you solutions even if there is something embarrassing to the company.
The programs I need Windows for are old and Win 7 will be better than 8. When I say "positive experience" I mean that it installs the first time as-is without having to call MS and groveling for help. I've seen prices for Win 7 ranging from $10 to over $200. I think ones that appear legit are in the $60-$80 range.

I can not perform the updates of VMWare workstation 10, every time I get this error message Any solution? These tools are needed?
